Let’s make “KYO-GASHI”(Traditional Japanese Confectionery of Kyoto)
From ancient times, artisans of various world of specialty have been cultivating tradition in Kyoto. The world of wagashi(traditional Japanese confectionery)is one of such. Our store was founded more than 210 years ago, and today we offer classes for “namagashi” making lessons. (namagashi means “raw sweets” which is a type of wagashi that is presented at occasions such as the tea ceremony) Class participants will make namagashi that colorfully expresses seasonal elegance with our artisan. There will be some explanation about wagashi as well.

For coronavirus preventive measures, our class size has been reduced to house 20 person only as wider space are placed between each seat.

Class contents:
Make seasonal 2 types of “nerikiri ( bean or rice paste with sugar)” and “kinton (mashed sweet bean)” confectionaries (total of 3) with our artisans. Demonstration of “higashi (dry sweets)” making. Tasting of just-made confectionaries with matcha (powdered green tea). *student participants will have houji-cha (roasted green tea).
Capacity
2-36 people. (1 person may participate when joining another group)
There may be times when a class is shared with other participants.
Please note that we may not be able to meet your date and time preferences when reservations are crowded.

No classes on Sundays, during Gion Festival (7/11~7/18), end of the year and New Years (12/6 ~1/8)
